_________Tierra de las Sombras_________[/size][/glow]At first the land was sheathed in shadows. Only the night stalkers could survive there, but as the land grew older, the shadows began to retreat, though not nearly as much as the homeless hoped. Nevertheless, a group of misfits and outcasts traveled there, filled with hopes and dreams, eager to fulfill the land with their progeny.
It was not to be.
Niccolo, the first and foremost leader, wanted the land to be his. He began a traveling route that he used to find maidens worthy enough to be his mate, if only temporarily. His plan was to use his relatives to take over tha land of shadows, and thus snuffing out the rest of the miscreants with similar plans. It was a clever plan, for the wolf he was. Niccolo's only real opponent was another wolf and familiar traveler, a more rustic but no less ambitious wolf dubbed Nucci. Nucci used much of the same plan, though with one exception. He did not care who was his mate, as long as they gave him healthy young. Unlike Niccolo, Nucci had no care of species. More creatures than wolves served as his mates until he had no more use for them.
The two were brothers.
Behind the two wolves stood a diverse array of creatures, though the cats chose to remain neutral. They assisted when there was something in it for them, and they could see nothing in the barren shadow land for them- yet. A werewolf became as useful to Niccolo as his own limbs, and a eagle became Nucci's. As their children grew, the land grew brighter, and much less dangerous than before; neither Nucci or Niccolo dreamed that their peace would be violated by the other. They both died surrounded by their family, on the same day.
Chaos prospered.
Niccolo had named a heir for his dynasty, a strong and handsome male named Luvo. Luvo held his family and those that served them in hand, though his cousins weren't nearly as lucky. Nucci had died without naming one or another of his children an heir. Battle began openly between Fratello, a full-blood wolf, and Camillo, a half-blood; his mother was a werewolf. Both Fratello and Camillo had been close before, but greed grew between them when they both wished to rule the same land. Their stiffness resulted in their downfall. The shadows began to return.
During a solar eclipse, Luvo and his clan struck.
Camillo was the first to fall, weakened by the hidden nature of a solar eclipse, and slaughtered by a girl-child of Luvo's line, a pup named Glaki. Fratello mananged to hold the rest of his family together, though he grieved for his half-brother, even when they had been enemies. Luvo's attack went on. Fratello's mother was slain by Luvo himself, and his clan picked off Nucci's line one by one, until only Fratello himself was left. Luvo let him live, as a reminder of his failure to his family.
Luvo's kindness was a mistake.
Fratello grew stronger through anger and hate. It was said later that shadows surrounded him like a thunderhead, and electricity could be felt from his fur. his body grew healthy once more, and he set out to destroy Luvo. But he knew he could not go without doing something else. He was the only surviving member of Nucci's line, and he did not wish for it to end. He discovered a she-wolf cowering in the forest, afraid for her life and without a pack. He overpowered her. Fratello forced her into being his mate.
His progeny survived. Not much else can be said.
Fratello's she-wolf no longer pleased him- he killed her. His blood-lust overcame him, and in a mad plan, he entered the territory that had once been his, and came upon Luvo's new camp. Luvo himself had retired, though not yet old. He wanted his clan to be strong, stronger than anyone else. Fratello came upon Luvo alone, gathering random plants for his healer. Pouncing, Fratello began ripping apart the wolf that had destroyed his life. Luvo, though weaker, was much lighter on his feet. Making Fratello believe he was almost finished, he ran, leading Fratello behind him.
Luvo survived the gorge. Fratello did not.
Luvo's wolven line can be found throughout the Sombras, though Fratello's can also. The shadows returned, soaking into the trees and rivers, until the areas where the past leaders had died were swathed in mist. Those born into the Sombras know what their name means- it is to remind them that they are only a shadow of their former glory, but their ambition remains strong. They have prospered for years, bringing more sunlight to their home once more, but it is only a matter of time before the shadows take over again.
They do not blame themselves.
Those who survive blame the wind that ran through the gorge, and that was what felled Fratello. Luvo was revered, until he was killed by an ambitious member of his own family. The relative forced his subjects to turn their anger upon the wind, and those who found it exhilarating; the members of the Tierra de los Vientos.

Teirra de los Sombras harbors those with much ambition, and often cruelty as well. Some kind-hearted souls can also be found here, but only rarely. Healers in particular bring the most light to their territory, though the overpowering greed of their leaders has never let the shadows disappear completely. Pure blood is favored here, and winged creatures are treated unfairly, though they do have their uses as spies.

Rivals: Tierra de los Vientos
The shadows have often fought with the wind, but neither has much more power than the other. Only time will tell who will win this time.
